Mosaic Fellow – Jimmy Biala

Jimmy Biala is a music educator, music performing and recording artist. Currently he teaches specialized programs of Cuban and Brazilian percussion to almost 400 young students weekly in 3 elementary schools in the south bay area.

Jimmy was honored as an SV Creates Silicon Valley Artist Laureate 2017/2018. He believes in the vital, essential role of the Arts in community and the building of cultural bridges through the discipline of music and dance culture.

Jimmy is the founder and artistic director of the group Bloco do Sol San José, an ensemble dedicated to the focused study and performance of samba music and dance from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
